Ifølge The New York Times 7. januar (07) og den prisbelønnede positive psykolog Barbara Fredrickson er 3:1 det profitable forhold mellem positiv og negativ feedback, som du skal gå efter i professionelle møder:
"All this interested [the attendees], but what Fredrickson says always catches their attention most is a study Fredrickson did with a Brazilian workplace psychologist named Marcial Losada, who observed annual strategic-review meetings of employees through one-way mirrors. The data she collected showed that the most effective teams — the criteria were customer satisfaction, profitability and internal review — were the ones who had more positive meetings. There was even a number that corresponded to the minimum amount of positive to negative feedback necessary to encourage successful functioning. That number, Fredrickson told the class, was three positive comments to one negative comment."
Under en opregning af nye og nyttige, konkrete, forskningsbaserede pointer fra Positiv Psykologi skrev Seligman i 2006:
"Economically flourishing corporate teams have a ratio
of at least 2.9 to 1 of positive statements to
negative statements in business meetings, whereas
stagnating teams have a much lower ratio; flourishing
marriages, however, require a ratio of at least 5:1."
"A ratio with more positive feelings is more generative—it’s associated with more creativity and openness to possibilities. Det handler om at vise overskud og på den måde komme ind i en god gænge og trække hinanden op i en gunstig spiral..
